Native American Churches & Services

American Indian Church (The Gathering)

This is a local church located in California and is the only one of its kind that I am aware of. They teach to respect all living things following certain native tenets.

Native American Church

The Native American Church is sometimes referred to as the peyote church since these utilitize peyote for traditional ceremonies. The have a website and a few congregations throughout the US and Canada.

Amerind Interfaith Church of North America

This large religious organization was formed under the auspices of the Native American Religious Freedoms Act, and is dedicated to preserving and practicing contemporary forms of traditional and pan-tribal faiths of the American Indian people. This church is often called the Amerind Church. Each church governs itself under a framework and executive authority vested in a North American wide governing council with delegates from each local church.

This is the church which I work for. Tolerance and respect for the various and many diverse faiths of the communities across North America is the mission and cornerstone to this church. We encourage the local communities to develop or re-establish its traditional practices. The Amerind Interfaith Church of North America at the national levels in Canada, Mexico and the United States fosters and encourages a return to the old ways and practices. Most communities adopt the traditional faith blended with modern ways to form a contemporary and meaningful faith, but each community is left to decide for itself to which degree they choose to take on modern practices. Ministers from various communities can assist you with your spiritual needs, and in learning about your community's religious practices and faith.

The Amerind Church of Washington, DC provides a contemporary form of traditional faith for all walks of life and communities. Many members are Christian who still maintain certain traditional beliefs and practices. We don't have a church at this time, but we meet regularly at various locations in Maryland and Northern Virgina. Membership is free, and the church can perform various services including weddings.
