karen edwards##karen@sympatico.ca####http://##Thu Feb 12 05:45:53 2004##3 weeks ago, my 6 year old child's head collided with my front tooth. The tooth immediately went numb, and when I had an x-ray performed the following day, the dentist told me that the tooth was strong, and the roots were intact, but to beware of symptoms that could arise. After 8 days, I found sensation had returned and thought that everything would be all right. Until 3 days ago, that is, when I noticed a greyish tone in the tooth. Particularly surrounding the gum/tooth line. Another appointment reveiled that the tooth is dying and I was given 3 options. Removal and false tooth, root canal or surgical implants.
Question: Is there any way the dentist could be wrong. Upon the second visit an x-ray was not performed. She simply looked at the tooth and said it appears to be dying.
Without dental insurance of any kind and a single mom raising 2 boys, currently looking for employment, It is difficult to know what to do.
