Welcome to my homepage. My name is Catherine. I am a 21 year old Metis from Ontario, Canada, and I am currently studying Graphic Design at Conestoga College. I am an artist who enjoys working in many mediums. Due to lack of hardware, I do not have any photos of my work to post on this site yet, but hopefully I can put some up soon. ££ ££Fine Arts ££My interest in art first stemmed from Fine Arts. I have enjoyed it for as long as I can remember, but I did not start applying myself as a professional until about 5 years ago. I painted custom designs on war shields. a drum and regalia for a Traditional dancer friend. I have done many t-shirt paintings and drawings for other friends. ££I work in pen & ink, pencil, pencil crayon, pastels, clay, scratchboard, paint, and wood. Scratchboard is my medium of choice but it is notoriously difficult to find in the particular area where I live, so unfortunately I don't often get the chance to work with it. My native paintings and drawings are in the Swampy Cree style, although my background is James Bay Cree. I found I adapted more naturally to the Swampy tyle. ££ ££Crafts ££I have made many Native crafts for myself, friends and family. Although I have made several dreamcatchers, I have done so only for myself or friends of mine who have had constant disturbing dreams. I do not make them as "decorations" for windows or car mirrors or the like. I never buy the cheap kits or materials that they sell in some craft stores; I fashion all my dreamcatchers from scratch, with only the best materials. ££I have also made mandelas, a fringed buckskin t-shirt, moccasins, and a pipe bag. I also do beadwork and have applied designs to the pipe bag and a pair of my own moccasins. It is a long and difficult process, however, so I do not do it often. ££ ££Graphic Design ££As mentioned in my Background, I am studying Graphic Design and have submitted many designs to companies and organizations, inculding the Labor Union of Waterloo, The Canadian Space Agency, The Waterloo Jazz Festival and the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival. A children's colouring book which I co-developed with a classmate won first prize and was published and distributed to children at the Maple Syrup Festival. ££ ££&& break# break# align#center&& align#left font#Arial&&Black&&3&&n&& break# divider#dvdurl/glass.gif&& break#&& text# ££Contact Me ££I am open to doing work on comission for any local Natives who would like work done on regalia, ££or who would like crafts or other artwork. Select the Email link on this page to contact me. I will do work either for cash or trade of items such as hides, furs, ceremonial herbs or hard-to-find art materials.&& break# break# text#This page is still under construction so check back soon for new material!&& break# align#left&& font#Arial&&&&2&&n&&0099CC break# align#center&& break# font#Courier New&&Black&&2&&n&& url#&&Go To Another Web Page&&www.type_a_url_here.com break# break# align#left&& font#MS Sans Serif&&&&2&&n&&CC3333 break# break# align#center&& email#Reptile@tropicalstorm.com&&Contact Me&&emlurl/email4.gif&&0&& break# break# align#left&& font#MS Sans Serif&&Black&&2&&n&& break# break# font#MS Sans Serif&&&&2&&n&&660000
