After some long years of researching, I finally went to Hertford County, NC and found abundance of information on our people, which lead me in the direction of Winton, NC -- that is were I found A LOT of information about us. It was one of the most wonderful learning experiences of my life. I am a qualified school teacher in New Zealand, and I was sent to be with my whangai sister who grew up in Salamanca. In my time there i humbled to be taken to so many sacred places. Meeting like minded people and sharing stories that were different to my own, yet so similar. One thing for the old people... it doesnt matter where in the world they are they are all still connected.

I am a Lieutenant with the Boulder County Sheriff's Office in Boulder, CO. My family name is Printup, but was changed when a typo appeared on my father's birth certificate. My grandfather, Lafayette Printup, left the Tuscorora reservation in 1899 and joined the U.S. Army in Buffalo, NY. He was posted in the calvary at Ft. Leavenworth, KS and retired a veteran in the late 1930's. I was looking up stuff on the internet and came across your site which is linked to the "unofficial" Tuscarora web site.
